as P.O.P. Email: bishop@trueworshipchurch.org Reverend Dr. Clarence Keaton was born the fourth child of seven siblings to the late Clarence V. Keaton Sr. and Mary F. Keaton. Dr. Keaton grew up in Brooklyn, New York where as a young man, he went from being a gang leader in the streets to leading gangs to Christ. After his miraculous conversion, he joined the ministry of Free Mission Apostolic Church where it’s pastor, Pastor Walter L. Dunlap, immediately recognized the gift of God upon Dr. Keaton’s life. It was here that Dr. Keaton taught for more than a decade as a Biblical Instructor enhancing the spiritual growth of the people. In 1983, God ordained and blessed him to establish True Worship Church and in 1985, the first church building was purchased. After burning the mortgage and within the space of twelve years, the growth of the ministry expanded at a rapid rate and the architectural design was given to Dr. Keaton by God to build a new cathedral on the same property. The vision of the new church came into fruition on September 21, 2001 and to God be the Glory. Dr. Keaton, with his church solidly behind him, endured the struggles and red tape of building a cathedral in the East New York section of Brooklyn. The sign of a true prophet is, “It Came to Past!” Rev. Dr. Clarence Keaton’s congregants affectionately address him as P.O.P. (Pastor Of Pastors) and to his peers he is known as the “Preacher Teacher.” He has been highly recognized as an inspired teacher of biblical truths and in 1992 was honored with an honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree by the highly accredited Jesus Saves Bible Institute. Dr. Keaton’s genuine love and concern for people gives him an edge on planning what is best for the many ministries that God has envisioned for his leadership. He’s a leader that recognizes the plight of our troubled youth, knowing that prayer is the answer as he mentors them. Many elected officials have presented awards to Dr. Keaton for his personal commitment to ministry and the community. These honors include acknowledgements from State Assemblywoman Diane Gordon of the 40th. A.D., who honored him for Outstanding Achievement. Former Councilwoman Pricilla Wooten, former Brooklyn Borough President Howard Golden and current Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz all have honored him with citations for Outstanding Community Service. The Honorable Congressman Edolphus Towns honored Rev. Dr. Clarence Keaton for his exemplary work in the ministry with a “Congressional Record of The House of Representative Proceedings and Debates of the 109th. Congress Second Session” award. Radio station WWRL of New York awarded and recognized Dr. Keaton as a highly acclaimed inspirational radio personality for utilizing the radio as a tool to minister to and reach thousands of people. Today, Dr. Keaton has the same compassion for people. His ministry has expanded awarding True Worship Church a place on the World Wide Web! The ministry truly meets the needs of the people by offering Computer Literacy classes, Deaf Ministry, Day Care Services, The True Worship Church newsletter entitled, “The Voice Of Worship” and the website, which keeps both the members and the community abroad informed of up coming events and services within the ministry. Yes, he (Dr. Keaton) is a builder and a visionary! Through his years of leadership, Pastor Keaton trained and licensed an ecclesiastical body of thirty-two ministers. From this awesome body of ministers, Dr. Keaton has appointed Pastor Spencer Wright the facilitator of his second location at 555 Liberty Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Keaton is also the overseer of the Holy Cross Remnant Church founded by the late Bishop W.B. McNeil; his spiritual father, where Pastor Steven McNeil is the facilitator. Dr. Keaton is a spiritual leader of covenant churches such as Christian Worshipper’s Church of Bronx, New York where the facilitator is Pastor Terrence Brunson and The Rock Church of Brooklyn, New York where the facilitator is Pastor Robert Linden . . . and many more await his tutelage. Pastor Keaton, with the awesome anointing of God, has reached further beyond the four walls of his ministry and touched the lives of many famous people in the gospel and secular world. Renowned recording artist Mariah Carey, who is a member of True Worship Church, has been blessed by Dr. Keaton with his spiritual guidance and words of encouragement. Reverend Dr. Clarence Keaton appears on Ms. Carey’s Grammy Award winning gospel single, “Fly Like A Bird”, which achieved multi-platinum status topping the charts of the secular world of music. Dr. Keaton has rendered the word of God through this recording throughout New York and abroad appearing with his awesome choir and Mariah Carey on ABC’s broadcast television show, “Good Morning America” and on the stages of the world’s famous Madison Square Garden and New Jersey’s Continental Airlines Arena. One of Rev. Dr. Keaton’s great achievements was to attend and perform with Mariah Carey at “The Grammy Awards” where he declared before more than fifty million viewers that “Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning”. Although Rev. Dr. Keaton’s face may not be recognized, his voice is heard delivering the word of God throughout the nation and the world. Reverend Dr. Clarence Keaton is blessed by his awesome wife of thirty-three years, First Lady Eartha Keaton and four loving children; Tarsha, Shawn, Tiffany and Clarence III and one amazing grandson, Kamari With more than thirty years in ministry, Reverend Dr. Clarence Keaton continues to serve as pastor and overseer of True Worship Church and Now the Presiding Bishop and Founder of the True Worship Church Worldwide Ministries. |
